Kirk has been a personal trainer since 1992 and worked with a variety of clients with many different fitness goals. His training is always focused providing his clients with support and tools to make working out (in and out of the gym) an integral part of their every day life. His passion for teaching led him to work as a certified CPR instructor. Kirk is a 1st Degree Black Belt and instructor in Tae Kwon Do. He is currently studying Krav Mage and teaching self-defense, self-protection and security. Kirk is NFPT and Fitness and Nutrition certified.
Classes Kirk Teaches
Proactive Self Protection – PSP 101
The ultimate goal of this workshop is to increase self-awareness and provide the participants with basic prevention and self-protection techniques. The curriculum focuses on general safety, use of verbal skills as well as physical response to threatening situations – palm strike, knee strike and basic holds. The aim of the workshop is to not only to practice and master basic self-defense techniques but to give the participants insight into their own reactions to threatening situations to ultimately recognize, prevent and, if necessary, respond to confrontations.
Fighting Fit classes combine MMA inspired drills and combat techniques with elements of traditional martial arts. Get in shape while punching, kicking, kneeing, elbowing and learning to defend yourself.

CPR/AED classes are certified by the American Heart Association follow the standard AHA curriculum. Upon completion of this course, each participant will receive a two-year certification.
Kenpo is a high-intensity, challenging, non-traditional workout class. It is rooted in the tradition of martial arts and focuses on fun, explosive combinations of traditional martial arts moves (palm strikes, punches, upper cuts, jabs, knee, side kicks, stomps etc.) to improve balance, flexibility, coordination and stamina.
Fusion of Kenpo, a high intensity cardiovascular workout rooted in the traditional martial arts moves (kicks, hooks, punches etc.) with the RIP Training. Workouts combine crossfit style workouts with the TRX Rip Trainer and martial arts rooted movements to increase core stability, balance, coordination, power and strength.
Weight Lifting 101
Introductory one-hour class offered to Harbor Members. The goal of the class is to help members with little or no experience in the weight room. Emphasis will be places on safety, form and gym etiquette and use of the basic free weight equipment and alternatives to them.
- Basic exercises on bench press – incline/decline/flat – (chest) using dumbbells, barbells
- Lat pull down (back) – lap pull down machine
- Row (back) – dumbbells and bands
- Shoulder press (shoulder) – dumbbell shoulder press
- Squats (legs) – dumbbells, body weight, stability ball
- Calf raises (calves) – dumbbells, body weight
- Bicep curls (upper arm) – dumbbells
- Triceps (lower arm) – cable triceps press downs, bench dips
