Pilates equipment or apparatus was designed to accelerate the stretching, strengthening and body alignment started by the mat work. The springs and the assistance given from the various pieces of equipment provide an ideal combination of support and resistance. Reformer and Tower classes are taught as small groups allowing greater instructor guidance. Pilates equipment classes require an additional fee.

I'm new to Pilates. How do I get started?

Begin with private sessions (pricing above) or the Pilates Introductory Series before attending group mat or reformer classes.

I've taken Pilates mat classes but I'm new to Reformer. How do I get started?

Schedule a private Pilates lesson with a certified instructor and/or take the Pilates Introductory Series before attending group reformer classes. Both options teach Pilates fundamentals so that you may confidently practice at the studio knowing you are exercising safely and with proper form.

Is the Pilates equipment available for members to use by themselves?

No. For safety reasons all Pilates equipment must be used in a class or private instruction setting. If you are a certified instructor or advanced Pilates participant see Courtney for approval to use equipment.

Can I practice Pilates if I am pregnant or postnatal?

Pilates is a great way to maintain fitness throughout pregnancy and to rehabilitate after pregnancy if you currently have a Pilates practice. It is not recommended to begin Pilates or any new exercise during a pregnancy. Please consult a physician as to when you may return to exercise after giving birth.

How much does Pilates cost?

Pilates mat classes are included in membership fees for Harbor Gold members. No registration is necessary. Please drop into class anytime.

Pilates equipment classes are offered as a part of our personal training program.  Registration is required to attend classes. Equipment classes may be cancelled if fewer than 2 participants attend regularly. If one participant attends, the time will be used as 30 minute private Pilates instruction.
