Q: What is personal training and what will it do for me?
A: At
Harbor Athletic Club (HAC), personal training consists of a guided
workout plan concentrated on your specific fitness goals. Your program
will be catered to your needs with relationship to your health,
injuries, sports goals, and/or lifestyle goals. Your trainer will
motivate you and keep you accountable to staying healthy. Some people
simply need to know how to make their exercise routine more efficient.
Harbor even offers email personal training packages for those with busy
schedules!
Q: What makes Harbor Athletic Club’s training program better than others?
A:
1)
Variety: HAC can provide you with pool workouts, indoor track, pilates
reformer training, and sport-specific coaching, just to name a few.
2) Privacy: There are semi-private areas at Harbor Wellness Center as well as a women-only area at the main club.
3)
Professionalism: You will have access to more than just personal
trainers on the HAC campus. You can conveniently meet with a Registered Dietitian, Chiropractor, Lifestyles Counselor, Acupuncturist, Physical
Therapist, Massage Therapist, or Acceleration Madison (for
sport-specific training). There is strength in numbers – with over 18
trainers with years of experience and expertise; you can be assured
that you will receive the latest in fitness.
4) Extensive testing available including postural analysis, body fat, and
new in 2007 – VO2 Max and Resting Metabolic Rate.
5)
Affordability: HAC recognizes that personal trainers increase member
satisfaction. Therefore, Harbor makes their training more affordable
than smaller studios.
Q: How much does personal training cost at Harbor? Do I have to be a member?
A: Rates for both members and non-members are available at the front
desk. HAC’s member prices range from $48-$60 per hour compared to the
average
storefront price of $65-$95 per hour. That could amount to a savings of
over $1,000 per year with a once/week appointment. The option of
semi-private lessons at HAC also make training more affordable. In any
case, your health and vitality is worth it!
Q: What qualifications do HAC trainers have?
A:
HAC personal trainers are Professional Rescuer-certified by the Red
Cross and have access to an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) for
your safety. While most have had some higher education in the fitness
field, ALL trainers carry at least one certification from a
well-respected cerifying body. They are dedicated to continuing
education of which HAC pays a portion. They represent “career” trainers
who together demonstrate expertise in fields such as sports specific
training, pilates, golf, rehabilitation, weight loss, swim instruction,
muscle gain, and more. In fact, the personal training concept has been
around HAC for 23 years!
