Harbor's Hot Yoga studio is equipped with a radiant heating system. Radiant energy heats objects so there is no blowing air. The hot air is balanced throughout the room. Energy usage is optimized because there is no wasted heat trapped at ceiling level. Radiant heat is sun like warmth: natural, silent, draft-less, odorless.

Why the heat?
The heat warms your muscles so they can flex safely and easily. Heat also heals and helps prevent injuries. Humidity promotes sweating, which cools your body and flushes toxins. Be prepared to sweat. Enjoy it!

I am a Harbor member, why is there an extra fee for hot yoga?
Harbor invested in a new infrared radiant heating system and dedicated an entire studio to Hot Yoga. The heating system is more complex and costly than simply turning up the thermostat or plugging in space heaters. The radiant heat is also much more beneficial (see question #3). Instructor training and fees are higher as well. As Harbor constantly upgrades and brings members new programs extra cost are incurred.
What to wear to class?
Leggings, tank tops, shorts, bra tops. You will sweat a lot, wet clothes become heavy.
What to bring to class?
Yoga Mat, Towel, Headband, Water
Can beginners practice hot yoga?
Definitely! Every class is an ALL LEVELS class. To acclimate to the heat try the warm flow.
What if I get dizzy or lightheaded?
Gently stop what you are doing and lie on your back until the feeling passes. BREATHE.
Stay calm, it is a normal reaction for beginners.
To avoid lightheadedness in the future drink plenty of water prior to class
I am pregnant. Should I practice Hot Yoga?
Always check with your physician before exercising when expecting. It is generally not recommended to start a hot yoga practice while pregnant.
What time should I arrive for class?
Try to arrive 10-15 minutes early to adjust to room temperature
