My life has come full circle since I began to practice yoga in 2006. As a child and teenager, I studied ballet, attending North Carolina School of the Arts. An injury and the realization I wanted more than ballet in my life led me to leave ballet and become a high school English teacher. I taught in Milwaukee Public Schools for seven years.
Now, here I am again, back in the studio studying the body and how what we do on the mat is a mirror to life off the mat. I am 200RYT licensed and am working toward 500 with an emphasis in yoga therapy. I also have certifications from ACE group fitness, Booty Barre, TRX and Pilates mat and reformer apparatus. My journey back to the studio has encouraged me to go to school, studying to become a physical therapist assistant. I am finding, of course, the more I learn the less I know.
I think most students find my classes physically challenging, mentally interesting and spiritually rewarding. I believe what we do on the mat only matters if it influences what we do off the mat.
